first off honey..what's with the blacks only?? i have alot of white girl friends who love soul food, anything smothered or fried! we have several greasy spoons in Louisiana and they hve a diferent menu everyday of the week, smothered turkey wings w rice & gravy, red beans & rice w/ pig tails & fried chicken, oh & cornbread, crawfish etouffee w/ potatoe salad & peas..i could go oh and oh but i see u droolin..did i forget the fried catfish??

I am not black and I love all of the above foods. However, I will only eat soul food that is made by black people because they make it best.

you should have been at my house tonight. i made the most delicious chicken and yellow rice and a sweet potato pie, almost like my grandma's. i picked up my girl friends little boy from school, she's at work. so i decided to boil some chicken down with some onions and seasons added some yellow rice. while that was cooking i took some canned sweet potatoes cooked them with some sugar and butter then smashed them up in a pie crust. it was some good shiit!
I'm a soul food master cooker and eater.
sweet potato pie
bread pudding
fried chicken
fried okra
jambalaya
ribs
pig feet
skillet corn bread made with alabama corn meal
real banana pudding made with carnation condense milk not the yellow pudding mix crap.
neck bones and rice.
stew beef with potatoes, carrots and celery
crackling bread and syrup
chicken wings and rice and some Louisiana hot sauce.

Since when are only blacks allowed to enjoy fried chicken with white gravy? I love southern "soul" food, and I learned about it from white people. I grew up in Virginia, and still eat my cornbread with molasses, and put hot chili vinegar on my collards.

i love soul food and know how to cook it very well but i am not black and dont live in the south..... my fiance is black, my child will be half black when she is born but i've know how to cook it for a long time.... why can only black people answer this question?
