I know this probably sounds "typically woman-ish", but I really want to lose five to ten pounds. I was really active from August to about December, but then I let myself kind of eat whatever without working out like I had been. I gained about eight pounds and lost a lot of my muscle mass. In June, I am going to the beach with a big group of friends. All of my girlfriends are amazingly skinny, and I really want to lose this weight to look good. I have a serious motivation problem, and I loooove to eat :-). Any advice (diets, workout tips, motivation, etc.)?

Try to make simple food choices that save you calories and make your food healthier. For example, replace white bread with wheat bread, stop drinking soda regularly, drink milk, try sorbet instead of ice cream, drink at least a liter of water per day (it'll fill you up and help your body), and try to add more fruits and veggies into your meals. For exercise, you can make small changes like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, doing crunches or something during TV ad breaks, working out 20 to 30 minutes a day, and substitute going to a movie with going for a walk with your friends.

You might realize that in order for you to lose the weight and keep it off for good, these changes would be long term. But since these are small lifestyle changes, it wouldn't be impossible.

Everything in moderation.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)
