uhm ... if she's 135 and is 6 foot, she's underweight. If she's 135 and 4 foot, she's overweight. You didnt provide enough info. Go to cdc.gov - they have a BMI calculator there. Remember that BMI would ideally be between 20 and 25. To find out BMI at home, here's whta you do (it's fairly easy)

Take their weight and multiply that by 703. Write that down

Take their height in inches and square it. Write that down.

Divide the first number by the second number. For instance, a person who is 6'1'' tall (73 inches) that weighs 185 lbs:

185 x 703 = 130055
73^2 = 5329

130055 / 5329 = 24.41

Hope that helps.

how tall is she? she may not be so overweight. if she is visibly fat though, the best thing you can do is join her on the weight loss trail. make it fun and don't tell her "oh, you have to lose weight, let's exercise". turn it into your special time with her on a half hour walk daily to start off. make it fun and it will become a habit and something you both look forward to. make sure her meals are balanced and lean with good carbs, lean protein, some unsat fat (olive oil), fruits and veggies. she is young and her body needs all the nutrients now. lots of water too. oh, and brown bag her lunch - i hear school cafeteria food is really bad. her biggest hurdle will be the peer pressure to eat things she likes but are not the best choices. you need to be her support system so she can keep her head up thru the tough times. and what a great parent you are to care about her health! good luck to both of you.

Don't mention her weight to her. You can have her lose weight without her even knowing! Make it a family thing. Sign the family up for a gym, take them there as much as possible. Go on long walks with her. Serve the family healthy food and make healthy snacks available to her. Limit the junk food that the entire family can eat.

How does a 13 year old girl whose own mother is annoyed about her weight get self-esteem?

She probably will eat more to get the comfort from that.

Find other things to praise and be proud of about her and forget about the weight issue, if self-esteem is what you are after.

And ask yourself just whose self-esteem you are really worried about, hers or yours.

In other words, just be a loving mom, no matter how much the girl weighs.

As her mother it is your responsibility to teach your daughter about the importance of healthy eating and exercise as a lifestyle. To be honest, I wouldn't worry about her weight too much, it's her eating habits and exercise I would focus on. When you are 13 your body is going through so many hormonal changes which can affect weight. Emphasis the importance of eating healthy and exercising - make it a family thing, exercise together!

No, she's not overweight. If she doesn't feel confident about her body maybe she can tone up with weights. I'm in middle school and weigh a few pounds more and am completly happy with my body. :) You can weigh diffrently but just tell her if her personality is awesome thats all that matters, really.

it depends on your daughters height, if she is tall it is perfectly fine, but if shes short she might be overweight.if she is overweight tell her not to worry about it, because she doesn't want to look like one of toady's models all anorexic and hideous.tell her that no matter what she'll always be beautiful.

its not really about weight (numbers) but more about how she looks. if she looks chubby then she probably is, if she isnt - then dont look at the number.
tell her how pretty she is, how good she looks in some clothes, anything positive.
make healthy meals, pack her lunch with healthy foods, go for a walk, jog together.
dont ever tell her she is fat - it kills.

it depends on her height. just tell her that at least she can fill her clothes nicely unlike those 90 pound anorexic freaks that go to my school!
