I have heard of some school here in the Philippines banning junk foods and even soft drinks to children.
Obesity is now a worldwide problem and from it other problems rise such as hypercholesterolemia, coronary artery disease or myocardial infarction ( heart attack), stroke, hyperuricemia and alot more. The Syndrome X is the collective term for this.
Younger people get heart attack this time. I have a friend in medical school who died at 30's. There are doctors dying in their 40-50's due to heart attack! Some had already undergone triple to quadruple bypass operations. The husband of my friend, a surgeon who trained both in Hongkong and the eastcoast, who after his training had undergone coronary artery bypass operation but still vegetable now due to other problems. He is in his early 30's!
Definitely probably nutrition should be started early in life. Nutritious foods should be installed already! But how can we do this when the environment around us is so tempting and there are lots of commercials with this junk foods and fastfood!

I don't think junk food should be banned, but I do think that healthier foods should be made available in addition to the junk foods. Seriously, if a kid really wants to get junk food, they'll find a way to get it whether it's banned from his/her school or not. Kids are notorious for sneaking things behind their parents' or authority figures' backs.

no kids have to learn to make their own good choices. if they dont have to make healthy choices in school when they get into the real world they wont have any practice and they'll eat a ton of junkfood.
