It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to keep a cat from jumping a fence - UNLESS you cat-proof the fence with a simple but ingeniuos system of adding a couple of feet of garden meshing or wire screen to the top of your fence, angling it so that it is oriented inwards at a 30 or 45 degree anglle. There are websites that show what this fencing looks like. Just google "cat fences."
Anither idea is to build or buy an outdoor enclosure for your cat. Again, there are many ideas on the web on how you can do this and what these things look like. I have a huge chainlink kennel that I made into an outdoor enclosure for my cats. I put them in there when they want to go out and I can't be with them. I'm happy and the cats have a ball in their outdoor enclosure.

I truthfully haven't any clue if this may provide you with the outcomes you want and your kitten climbin issue yet at the same time as my little ones were little and that i had to keep them from mountain climbing on my counters i'd get a number of that silver tape and then positioned it sticky area up. They hated it and stopped getting up there. I also positioned it in the back of the television so as that they stopped leaving tootsie rolls decrease back there. perhaps because that's a kitten and it has to climb a number of it somewhat of being waiting to leap to the accurate you may want to positioned peices of the silver tape all in the course of the accurate and then factors of the perimeters. also yet another good aspect that would artwork is sryan wrap. For some reason they dont like touching that so ball up huge wads and positioned it on the fence between the tape globs. good success. i do not comprehend if this may artwork yet they have those fence a lot less issues for dogs perhaps you are able to locate in the journey that they have got them for cats. and do not get dissatisfied about the idiots for each 10 idiots there is someone like me who does wanna help. so be affected man or woman and sorry you may want to pass threw such numerous idiots

well she is a cat and they do love to climb and jump and just are nosey-if you go to a pet store most carry some sort of spray that you can spray on the fence weekly that has some sort of odor that a cat can't stand and will stay away from-we used to have some that we would put on and under our christmas tree and worked fantastic-but i am not too sure of what the stuff was called but just ask an employee at the store or ask the vet about it-again if you can't find that she will just have to suffer with being hooked up to a leash!!
well hope this helps and that you find a perfect solution for this problem!!

If your fence is a standard 6-foot backyard fence, there's little you can do to prevent it. Either you need to keep her as an indoor kitty (which many people recommend) or have faith that she will come home. If she is spayed, she will be less inclined to wander too far away. My neutered male cat will wander over to the neighbor's yard to see if he can steal some food from their cat, or to the field next door to hunt gophers, but he never goes farther than that. I always keep him in at night for safety's sake and he always has a way to get into our house when he wants to be there.

Cats are very adventurous and love climbing by nature. One way to resolve the jumping of the fence is to have her declawed so she is unable to claw the fence. But only do this if she is restricted to your house and yard. Usually cats will not walk like a dog on a leash with a collar around their neck but what you might try is using a small puppy harness. This is restrictive for them but they donot feel more restricted because it is not around their neck. I tried it on my 3 cats and they did well with it!

I think Cats nature is to prowl; so cutting off her love-life doesn't take the basic instinct out of her. I just had a Mama Cat to make herself at home within my home & gave birth to 5 little kittens. She stayed indoors with them, 100 % for a while, but now, she enjoys going out & doing her prowl; but she comes back. I've always heard that you can't pick a Cat; that they pick you; in which I believe is true. She may, or may not, run off; the only way to find out, is to let her out a little & see. If not, I have these 5 kittens. LOL

I'm afraid I have to agree. Making your cat a permanent indoor cat is probably the only solution to your problem. You say that house arrest is probably not enough--you might want to try consulting one of the experts at the CatChow.com Cat Care center and see if they can suggest something else--they have professional behavorists on staff.

I have two cats. I keep them indoors. You should too. Then you won't have that problem. If you wanna take her outside, get her used to a leash. It's possible. Oh, and another thing, I'm thinking you meant spayed. If you had her spaded, I'm sure she'd be in a lot of pain by being hit by a spade.

Kenexie,
I have five cats and I will tell you this, if you are feeding them well and providing care for them they will not run away. They may wonder off, but they will always come back. The worse case scenario is that they may get hit by a car.

there are many ways use a runner leach so she can get out doors or if you are able to and want to use a shock collor when ever your cat gets to close to the fence she will get a small shock wont hurt her but will let her know not to go that faw away first try the leash and if you still think that wont work use both use the leach and the collor that will show her the limit of how far she can go or just keep your cat indoors
