The sun is the ultimate energy source for the wind. The sun's light warms the Earth's surface unevenly. The air masses above them have different temperatures and densities. These air masses move around, rising and falling, pushing under other air masses, and generally traveling around. That's wind.

wind is caused by heat driven pressure differences in the atmosphere. Hot air rises causing an area of lower pressure into which cooler air flows. Cooler air is heavier and sinks pushing warmer air out of the way.

Wind is caused by a mix in hot air and cold air. Also a change in air pressure. And lastly by the coriolus effect.

Differences in pressure. Dense low pressure cold air displaces the less dense warm air.
