No, actually, the center of the earth is the "bottomless pit". Hell is inter dimensional. It is referred to as "outer darkness". Hell is a place that was prepared for the devil and is a dimension that is outside of the love and light of God.

For the silly posts above me, consider this. The Bible says that hell is a real place--not a state of mind.

The Angel prophesying to Daniel said it was a real place...
Daniel 12:2 - And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.

God revealed it to Isaiah that is a real place.
Isa 66:24 - “And they shall go forth and look Upon the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die, And their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”

Jesus confirmed God's prophetic word to Isaiah three times!
Mr 9:44 “where ‘Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’
Mr 9:46 “where ‘Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’
Mr 9:48 “where ‘Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’

...and described it as a dimension of darkness.
Matt 25:30 "...cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Jude spoke of it...
Jude 7 - suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

And John in Revelation also described heaven detail.
Re 20:10&15 - And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire...and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

I would not bet my eternity on man made philosophies and against the Word of God.

The Old Testament talks about three different heavens: our atmosphere, space and the realm God rules from. We live in a realm that is finite and created for us by God. Heaven is an infinite place where God exists everywhere, accessable to all at once (He is an infinite being).

Hell is a place where absolutely no trace of God or his blessings exists, created for God's enemies and those who choose life without God. It is infinite as well, timewise at least. In our finite physical realm we really can't place it. We look up to God because He created us and He made us the center of His attention, looking 'down' from all over. Since the place created for His enemies must be in the opposite direction it makes sence for us to look down.

It is not something that we can point to with these bodies we have nor will we want to know with our new bodies when we leave this realm for God's.

The point is that it is virtually impossible for us with a finite mind to understand the things of God. He has shown us some things in a way that we might somewhat understand and keep our faith strong but, as Paul said, it is like looking throught a very dark glass.

If we knew it all there would be no room for faith. Faith is important to God; it is where we rely on Him.

That's exactly where Hell is at the center of the earth. It is hot as the sun down there.

Hello, Matt:

The hell as Christians know it came from Greek mythology. It was known as Hades and separated from the living world by the River Styx. Perhaps you recall Achilles being dipped in that river as an infant. His mom held his heel; that became his one vulnerable spot, and he was ultimately killed by a poision arrow there.

The Bible hell comes from the Hebrew word: shoel--meaning the grave; in Greek, ghenna, meaning something where trash is burnt.

When you die, you go to the grave, yet one day you will resurrect. Jesus said there will be two resurrections, the righteous and the damned. Revelation 20 tells us they are 1,000 years apart.

To understand this better, read Christ's words: "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
"And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation" (John 5: 2,29).

You will want to be in the first resurrection and share eternity with Jesus. As for the "damned", they will perish in the lake of fire. It's pretty hot, hotter than a crematorium because the Bible says they will be..., Well let us read Malachy 4:1: "For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch."

It says the same thing for the Devil in Ezekiel 2:1: "I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee [internal combustion], it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee."

"The wages of sin is death [burnt up forever], and the wages of righteousness is eternal life in Christ Jesus" (Romans 6:23).

There is more on this Online when you crack the code in the only part of the Bible that was closed until the end of the days."

Great question. I like the fact that you skipped the usual question of it's existence and went straight to the location question.

The trouble is that you (and I) are so used to thinking in Earthy terms and dimensions that we are unable to fathom time and space in God's domain.

Schneb is right. You can count on hell being real. Hell is mentioned over 50 times in the Bible and Jesus mentions hell many, many times.

Hell is the complete absence of God. Complete and utter darkness. If you have ever been spelunking and been in total darkness, it's pretty creepy.

Hell is the grave. Consider also the case of the righteous man Job, who suffered much. Wishing to escape his plight, he pleaded: "Who will grant me this, that thou mayest protect me in hell [Sheol], and hide me till thy wrath pass?"# (Job 14:13, Douay Version) How unreasonable to think that Job desired to go to a fiery-hot place for protection! To Job, "hell" was simply the grave, where his suffering would end. The Bible hell, then, is the common grave of mankind where good people as well as bad ones go.

OK, Matt. If you could just get that can of beer away from your mouth for a sec, I'll tell you! Hell is a dimension that is void of god. I believe one is conscience of the fact that your 'alive', that is you exist, yet you feel lost, empty. Much like you after your last beer! You feel your spirit is just travailing, you can acknowledge that god is not with you, you ARE aware of this, and that is hell! Knowing that GOD is not with you!!!!! , Much like a clean tee shirt is not on you, understand?

It's in the places on this earth that most stupid fat Christian Americans never have to visit or see or think about while they sit in their air-conditioned computer rooms eating twinkies and damning atheists for thinking for themselves.

I dunno, you ask me, being at the center of the Earth would be pretty hellish. Thousands of degrees, molten metal, pressure of the entire world... I'd say the center of the Earth is a good candidate.
