They can break their tails. I've been working in vet clinics for over two years now, and I know they usually don't do anything for broken tails. It will heal eventually, and your dog will start using it again, when it is more comfortable for him.

Yes, they can. I can sympathize with your situation, but I would think fixing a broken tail would be considerably less expensive than fixing a broken leg for example. I've never actually had a dog break his tail so I can't say for sure how much it costs. I can tell you. It's rather sad seeing a dog whose broken tail has healed in an odd direction or not healed at all because it wasn't taken care of. There are groups out there who can help out financially with needed vet care. This link has a list of organizations like that. Hope it helps.

Absolutely yes, a dog can break its tail. The good news is that it's not a life-threatening injury. Ideally, you would take your dog to the vet to have the break set and splinted. Worst case scenario, if you leave the tail as is, it will heal in its broken position.

It was an accident, so try not to feel too bad about it. Would your mother pay the vet and let you reimburse her later? (Most moms would, especially if she wants her dog's tail back in its normal position.)

Dogs can break their tails but it is possible that it is just sprained. I had a cat once that had a tail that it wouldn't move for a while. Eventually it got better. if the tail is swollen or if it doesn't get better in a week it might be broken. If at all possible you might want to take him to the vet if you are worried about it. Good luck!

Yes, a dog can easily break his tail, and you're going to have to take him to the vet (it's also considered an animal cruelty charge in most states because he's in need of the care).

What seems like a simple bruise, can actually be really serious. If he doesn't get immediate care now, his tail could be permanently damaged for life also.

My advice would be to take him in, and see if you can work out some sort of payment/arrangement plan with your vet. Many places are willing to work with you on payments, you just have to ask around.

~Hope this helps!

If it dosen't get better in a few days you might have to take the dog to the vet and arrange payments or apply for a credit card through your vet to get the dog some treatment. The tail is made of a bunch of small bones and it is rather easy for them to break their tails.

Well , maybe you can use a bandages with a tape wrapping on his tail to keep him not shake it all over . if its really in pain like if you touch it and if he dooes scream i think you should ask youre family for help to share you some money to get youre dog check up with the doctor. if not then i think you should try to wrap something to keep it safe. if its just sprain his tail then it will just take a while to get it better and heal again .

Yes, a dog can break his tail. Some breeds are more susceptible to breaking their tails---such as the Greyhound.

If it is still bugging him in the morning, call the vet.

Dogs can break their tails and it is very painful. You have to find a way to get the dog to the vets.

Yes. I have a dog with a broken tail. It's just the tip, but it's broken, none the less.
