Do NOT use the 'friends' approach, that will tell her you are too weak to ask her for what you really want and will set the whole tone of your relationship. It's also deceitful, and even if it works you'll forever be her 'friend' who she could never think of 'that way'. A special kind of torture...
I saw someone else mentioned that approach and I could not stay silent, lol.
As for unique ask outs, I'm going from the standpoint that this is for a first date. In high school I once asked a girl out with a gigantic clear jar of candies. Before hand, I put a note at the bottom of the jar asking her out, but it was underneath all the candy and this was a big jar so you couldn't concievably reach it easily. On the top of the jar was another note with something like 'Roses are red, candies are sweet, a secret admirer wants to give you a special treat, to find out more see the note at the bottom of the jar'. I then left it on her desk before class started.
The trick was, she couldn't get to the second note without dumping all the candy everywhere and she couldn't do that during class so it just about drove her nuts with anticipation.
Anyway it was unique when I tried it, maybe it's old hat now, but you might give something like that a try (depending on the situation, leaving something on her desk at work, etc).
Of course if you're just looking for something to say to her try a funny but cocky approach: "All right, I know I'm devastatingly attractive and I can see you've been waiting for me to approach you, but I must warn you that I am a very bad boy and beautiful as you are, you are a good girl, and this can only end in tears... but what the heck, why don't we give it a try anyway?"
Try your best to be friendly, funny and confident, and remember it isn't the end of the world if she turns you down.

I'm not easy to convince, but I will tell you one that has worked on me. I was talking with a group of colleagues and they were saying how they would slop me up with syrup and I told them that men were all the same, thinking bout one thing only, this guy over heard us and he said no their not and I'll prove it to you. Well he did for three years and we recently took a break.

Try a humorous approach.
Once i was working at a chicken place when i was about fifteen(i am eighteen now) and he was 16 he was at the drive through window and he smiled at me and said"Would you like to go out to dinner with me some time i know a great place for chicken." i couldn't help but fall in love with it(of course he was joking,we went out for Italian) and we're still together now.

This has never happened to me, but I think it would be sooo romantic to have a florist come to my door with a flower and a note requesting me to meet for dinner or something.

Say :"Do you have another room for a friend in your life?" u wont pressure her or anything, and she wont think ur a perv or anything. Most girls would say yes or accept u as their friends. U noe how things start...friends to lovers :]

k the first time i got asked out, the guy came up to me and said. "Emily, every day i stare at you from accross the classroom. im the one you always get letters from in your locker. i love your eyes, and i really thing that we could be happy together. would you go out with me?"
say something like that. add in the babmi eyes like he did and u'll get her. just dont be like:"ur really pretty. um, i like u. will u go out with me???"

get a blank cd and put love songs that remind u of her on it and on the cd write sumthin like this is how i feel about u. will u be my girl? or sumthin to that extent
