Does thermal hair straightening [Japanese hair straightening] actually work? How long does it last? and does it require much styling after its done?

I have Long brown hair with a natural curl and it frizzes with humidity. I have tried normal hair straighteners and products and nothing works.

I don't want to get it chemically straightened.

If you don't want to get it chemically straightened you're going to have to straighten it. Get a good straightener like Sedu or GHD and get a shampoo and conditioner like Sunsilk Hydra TLC. Also, the Japenese straightening system will last 4-8 mths. depending on how fast your hair grows, just the virgin hair will have to get a re-touch. It takes about 5-6 hrs. to do in a salon. Afterwards your hair will be pin straight you can blow dry it or let it air dry.

I have heard that it does not require a lot of styling. However as your hair keeps growing, you will be able to see the difference in the straight hair and the wavy new hair coming in.

I use a Chi straightener on my hair to make it straight. I bought it at Target for about $120.00 It works very well. Maybe you might want to use something like that instead...

There is more than one way to have your hair permanently, chemically straightened.

The first is the obvious, relaxer, which can be very damaging and very "addicting" to the hair.

The second option, an actual wave perm. If you comb a perm through, without the rollers, and do everything it says to in the directions, except for using the corlers, your hair will be permanently straightened (until it grows out and you have to get touch ups like a normal perm.

It works really well. It can cost alot depending on how long and think your hair is. Most places require a consultation before telling you the price. It could be $800-$1000 or even more. It is permanent until your hair grows out, then you will have to have it retouched.

then you will need to keep straightening it by hand. Yes it works but it is very temporary. The minute your in humid weather or rain, you will get the frizz again.
