The fastest trip duration from San Francisco (SFO) to Chennai (MAA) is 21h 20min with only 1 stop in Frankfurt airport (FRA) onboard Lufthansa. The return trip would take 22h 40min with Lufthansa. Lufthansa flight LH455 departs SFO at 13:55 and arrives in FRA at 09:35 after a 10h 40min flight. You'll have 1h 50min on the ground in FRA before LH758 leaves at 11:25 and lands in MAA at 23:45 with a flight time of 8h 50min. Total flying time is 19h 30min and total trip time is 21h 20min.

There are other 1-stop and/or 2-stops options between Chennai and San Francisco but these are the quickest trip duration. The actual flight time will depend on the winds, speed of the aircraft and the actual route the aircraft flies. The departure and arrival times are local.
