Ok I have a puppy, he is a mixture of a Shitzu and Yorkies. To train small bread dogs you have to do it reallyyy early in the age because they are very SMART and intelligent and VERY STUBORN dogs. Go to petco and buy these potty training sprays and spray it on the Blue Pampers thingss that they sell put the dog on it and let me small it a while wait until he pees. Then every 1-2 hours take him there, BUT NO NOT CARRY HIM, let him WALK there. wait until he pees. (if you want him to pee outside put the pampers with the sprayed on potty training OUTSIDE), remember EVERY 1-2 hours, puppys PEE alot LOL. Then let the puppy develop that way. And the more the puppy makes itself home the more he.she will knoww EVERY place in the house. It will take 2 -3 weeks. When the puppy is use to the home, it will by insticnt know where his/her bathroom is TRUST MEEE!! jus tbe patient. ALSOO buyy those scent remover sparyss, soo when he/she pees somewhere you don't want just clean it and spray that so the smell won't be there, CAUSE THEY FOLLOW THIER SMELL LOL. And also when you are cleaning the place they shouldnt have went, JUST LOOK AT IT STRAIGHT IN THE EYES AND sharply say nooo until you get up, then take him to the place you want him to and point to it and wait till he pees.

HOPE THAT HELPS!! =)

Ok the answer I am going to give you didn't come from me. It came from an answer to this question a while back and it came from an ID name peachesdeese. The answer this question better than I ever seen anyone answer it and it is worth repeating all over again. So the following is an answer that peachesdeese gave some one else.

The best time to get a puppy is when your going to be home for a couple of days. (Like the weekend.) That way they have a little time to bond with you and they tend to listen a little better.

Potty training a puppy isn't a matter of time....its a matter of timing.

Instead of thinking....."Take the baby out every couple of hours" Do it this way....

When it wakes up.....take it out
When it finishes eating.... take it out
When its done playing... take it out right then

A puppy lives in the "right now" state.....
When it wakes up...al it knows is its gotta pee! And if you don't take it right then it will pee where ever!

Same thing goes for playing and eating.

Regardless of what people say, crate training is bad for a dogs mental state. The perfect way to confine your pet from roaming your home while your gone is to put it in the kitchen/laundry room/bathroom with a baby gate. Don't close the door. A baby get will make your baby feel less confined and the puppies mind set will be better. Give them plenty of toys and a bed on one side of the room, peepee pad on the other side of the room and food and water in the middle. (Puppies don't normally like to poop where they sleep!)

It is possiable....with patience....to teach a puppy to use the peepee pad AND go outside. This training method has worked perfect for me and the animals I train!

She gave me premission to include this in my puppy kit..I think it is worth wild.

I couldn't said it any better than peachesdeese did.

Well to start with, be sure to let it outside as soon as you get up in the morning, preferably at the same time everyday. Then set times through out the rest of the day to let it out. If you see it going in the house, grab it and take it outside and if he goes more outside praise it a lot. There are also things call puppy pads that dogs will pee on if you have to leave it all day at the house all alone. Be sure to praise it a lot when it goes out. If it is a puppy it'll be trained in no time.

with any pup, i trained my pups on news paper when it would not do it's bizness on it i would then take the pup to the spot where it did it's bizness let it smell it then would tell the pup on the news paper i set it down on that paper. many times but i had to put the sent of the bizzness on the paper. so the pup would get the idea as it progrested i would move the paper closer to the door untill i got the pup go out side from then on outside was the place to go.
i use a spray bottle to for other training it works so well it is funny
