nope. just work your hardest. show them and prove them wrong that tall people are better at volleyball or have an advantage. a couple girls on my team are short (between 5' and 5'5'') and their amazing.

No, height is not everything when it comes to volleyball. Sometimes height is helpful, but it isn't needed. Some shorter players get stuck in the back row, but my advise to you is to work on your vertical jump. You may want to practice jumping with ankle weights on, or if your school has a "verti-max" machine, utilize that. If you have that, then you could beat out some of the girls that are taller than you. It just depends on how much you put into to. I coach volleyball, and I have a girl that is 6'1" and I have other shorter girls that I would put in the front row before her. So I don't think you should worry about your height, worry about your skill.

I'm not entirely sure, but I heard that after tryouts, some schools don't eliminate the 9th graders ( or whatever class is the 1st in HS, at my school 8th graders go to HS cause middle school building is too crowded ). It's because you guys aren't really experienced and this is wear most new players come from since teams can be seperated by age group. I would say height does effect performance, but you still have the potential to be a good player.

No! Height most definitely does not really matter in Volleyball.

When I was in high school, we have had girls of all heights try out for Volleyball, and they all made the team.

You will not get eliminated because of your height.

Good Luck in High School and Volleyball!

Height is important if you are playing in the front row as a hitter and blocker. Im 5' 7'' and i'm in the front row. But height doesn't matter that much if you play back row. Just try your best at try outs and believe in yourself. I see a lot of shorter people playing volleyball, they just don't play front row that often. HAVE FUN!!

As in most sports, height matters somewhat in Volleyball. Not a lot though. I'm 5'4 and play. A good vertical helps too...but as long as you can hit the ball over the net, you should make it! Good luck, I hope you make the team!

in professional level u would be quickly eliminated probably cause height matters a lot in volleyball, even more than it does in basketball, but for high school level u have chances to get into the team if u are really good! good luck :-)

Definatly not. I played Volleyball in high school and, my first year I made Varsity. I'm only 5'3'' and yes height gives you an advantage but as long as you are dedicated and motivated; skills out weigh height in this sport.

Yes height matters. It is ignorant to think it doesn't. Obviously it matters more in certain positions. The only place it may not matter is liebero. At the level your playing it shouldn't hurt you as much. But everyone should be a little realistic, look at national teams, their huge.

hello! people! height is a huge basis. but i don't think it will get you eliminated. but height is important in the sense of how high you can jump. if your a good jumper and can jump high than you'll be pretty much set. all you will have to do is build muscle and learn the techniques. but just because your shorter (i don't think that is that short) doesn't mean you won't get on the team. just show them your dedication and skills... but you definitely won't not get on the team becasue of your height

top of direction, provides an earnings, as devoid of the top you need to artwork greater sturdy, or smarter to offset this. I truly have reported that short people can play volleyball - and mutually because it may look which you won't have the capacity to efficiently spike - you truly can, yet you need to do each thing precise, to get the ability. In that I truly have considered a quick guy do some fantastic power spikes, by using sheer atheleticism - he performs basketball too... besides being smaller, you may flow quicker. i think of you need to have the ability to spike, yet in simple terms spike on your individual way - and of direction, your setter has to understand this, providing you with a collection away (no longer too close to to) from the internet. of course a blocker would have the earnings in blockading your spike - and so, you desire to spike on your earnings, in which you will % the place the ball will go over the internet by utilising your perspective. actually attempt this game out, to be sure in case you will adore it? it might help in case you probably did multiple practice with a low priced practice volleyball, at the same time with spiking against a wall, and doing digs and instruments to others who'd desire to coach with you? you won't have the capacity to do too plenty practice by utilising your self - while working in the direction of with acquaintances (whether they do no longer look to be into volleyball) - you're able to do plenty greater. whether they throw (and capture) the ball at you - and you dig it, to them to capture... The greater practice you have, the greater advantageous you would be. in simple terms replica what you notice on television, by utilising sea coast volleyball gamers, etc...
