I need to remove my water pump to replace the gasket, however there is a bracket on the same studs as the water pump. The bracket leads over to the power steering , and is behind the pulley. I want to remove the pulley so I can continue to remove it but having trouble getting it off.

The pulley goes to the serpentne belt, and is notched out in a hex shape for what appears to be for a allen wrench.

Can some one give me a idea on how to remove this pulley ?

david z is correct. To remove the power steering pump pulley, requires use of a threaded pulley remover. To install the pulley also requires use of the special threaded type installer. This tool can either be rented, or purchased from most auto parts stores.

you need a very thin wrench that you can rent at auto zone cheap. use the thin wrench and fit it onto the nut just behind the pulley. you will need to hold the pulley stationary and loosen the bolt with the thin wrench, this may have reverse threads but I'm not sure. good luck.
