Whats a good file that I can use to chop a 700mb file into 10mb sections for email purposes?

I have winrar...but I cant find any options that allow me to makes 10mb parts. So...whats another program? Or...how do I make winrar do it?

also, it cant really be a site. Just cause its for a friend whos in college and downloading things from sharing sites or programs is basically illegal there. As in, they watch what he does, and if he does too much he gets kicked out with no chance to return. But...for some reason downloading 700mb from an email is not frowned upon.

What kind of file? If it is only text, just copy and paste, of course. But sounds like this is a video file.

You don't use a file to edit files. Files are just files. You need a program, and in this case, you need a program that splits video files into smaller parts. They will have to be rejoined by the same program at the other end.

There is a program called hjsplit, google it, that splits and joins video files. Get it, split the file, tell your friend to get it also so he can join it back up.

That's if you want to go this route. There are other ways.

You can use an Instant Messenger program like AIM. You put the file in a location, your friend configures his AIM to receive files in a location, and you IM him, find the Send File button, it pops up the folder the file is in or you navigate to it, and you click send and it goes to his AIM received files folder.

Or you can find a file storage site, like rapidshare, upload the file to it and then send your friend the url to it and he goes to rapidshare and downloads it. But most file sharing sites have like 100 mb limits per file, so you would have to split it anyway.

Hi,

In Winrar, click Commands Toolbar-Add File to Archive. After you select which file should be added to the archive to be created, look at the bottom left corner to see Split to Volumes. Type in the size of the parts (in Bytes, 1MB=1024KByte=1024x1024Bytes), and after the compression is done, you'll have 70 pieces of your file.

Instead of chopping use FTP. Its better and you dont have to worry about the problems of reassembling a file.
