Your own auto insurance policy should cover you as far as insurance to the rental car goes. The problem is probably that you only have liability and the car rental wants comp and collision on the car. I would think if you called your insurance agent and added comp and collision to your policy, you would be fine. I would look into this.

If your policy has a provision for a rental car then your insurance will pay. It is usually a nominal fee to add to your policy, like two dollars every 6 months. It is not the responsibility of the person who hit you to provide you with rental insurance for your car, just your rental car itself.

Most car insurance policies include insurance on rental cars, so additional insurance is probably not necessary. Check your own car insurance policy or call the agent to make sure rental cars your drive are covered.

Generally the rental car companies run your insurance to make sure you have collision coverage before you get their vehicle! Someone was asleep at the wheel on this one! I think you bought yourself a rental car! In NYS they cannot force you to take insurance unless you do not have collision on your policy. You are also covered by most credit cards generally upto $50,000 but that varies upon credit card!

This one is kind of touchy. If you only carry liability, and the rental co requires you have full coverage, they should pay for that. Although it is optional, you wouldn't be in this predicament had they not hit your parked car.

Normally, insurance co's don't pay for additional insurance (collision/damage waiver), because you would have collision. This is a unique situation. GEICO pays for it, but I've seen co's who don't(cheap bastards). It's about 10 bucks a day-they're being cheap. Call back and ask for a claims supervisor, that should get the job done.

In most states, your personal auto insurance policy also covers you when driving a rental vehicle at no extra charge. Call your agent to find out if that is the case in your state.

No. They are not responsible for providing anything you didn't already have so feel lucky that they are paying for a rental.

There is a daily limit, and this is the case with all insurance. Unless you have paid for a loss-of-use endorsement on your own policy with a higher daily limit, this is what you have to live with. Sorry.

they are not responsible for rental insurance because it is optional. now why would the insurance company pay for additional insurance? that's your choice but not their responsibility.

Ins. co.s don't want to pay but if you gripe and raise hell, they might take care of it. Contact your state consumer protection agency, too. They can sometimes settle this type of complaint.
