I'm a male and 14 years old. I was wondering if it was OK to start strength training (I.E. Weight Lifting) and I'm planning to train for high school football.

I dont see why it would be a problem, as long as you dont overdo it.

Any age is ok to lift weights, as long as you go with an experienced adult that can show you how to do the lift safely and correctly. Another teen does not count as an experienced person.

Anyone who tells you you're too young because it'll "stunt growth" doesn't know what they're talking about. This is a popular myth that has no scientific basis. You'll get beat up more from football than any safe lifting routine.

Be sure to focus on the core lifts (squats, bench press, deadlifts).

I would say any age is really okay, as long as you are smart about it. Make sure you give your muscles a day of rest, dont work out the same muscles two days in a row, and start slow. If you have an older brother or father or coach (any one really) who could show you and help set up a program, that would be smart. Even your family doctor could tell you a few things.
