"Legalize" is a word that grandstanding prohibitionists like to use to conjure images of marijuana vending-machines alongside lockers in the halls of the nation's schools, airline pilots sparking up bong-hits of skunk-bud in the cockpit immediately before take-off and landing, heart and brain surgeons passing around doobies of the kryppie over their patients to the anesthesiologist and O.R. staff during the operation, school-bus drivers greeting the students with a lit bowl of the chronic in mouth, and so on ... drivel coming the government that only morons would believe.
Do the laws need to be changed? ABSOLUTELY. Just look at these horrific enormities perpetrated under the guise of "sending the right message to young people." I'm guessing since you're into skateboarding you are under 25. What do you think of the "message" the government has sent you?

No, they should not. It does not just 'get you high'.
Consider what getting 'high' is. It's altering your perceptions, which alone could be dangerous. It's also been linked to other health problems, most notably very recently it has been found there is a correlation between marijuana use and shizophrenia. It has also been shown to bring on psychosis.
It is not as safe as some people make it out to be. It can have a seriously detrimental affect on your mental health, which you may not notice until later on on your life, and then you'll be wishing you never touched it. The more regularly you use marijauna the more likely your 'highs' won't be pleasurable, and will turn to feelings of paranoia for example.

They have already made an error by sending out the wrong message and lowering its legal status . Many Labour MPs are now unhappy about this, and deny that they were given all the up to date info, before making their decision. This is unlikely as all the most recent medical concerns have been in the public domain for years!
Firstly, despite PC suggestions to the contrary, it is addictive.
Secondly it produces an increase in a number of mental conditions, increasing levels of depression,paranoia,schizo- affective disorders and schizophrenia, especially in individuals who already have a predisposition.
Thirdly, and most worrying, it has been established that in all chronic users it produces a degree of brain atrophy (shrinkage). This both produces and accelerates dementia!

It staggers the imagination the amount of money the government could raise by decriminalizing (not legalizing) the use of marijuana... If you could only legally buy it from government owned and operated package stores, the government of the US could pay down the national debt and fund all their dirty little wars without taxing us all to death. As it stands right now the money all goes to criminal types who are bold enough to traffic in it, or people just grow it for themselves and their friends. The government is missing out on a huge cash cow.

Marijuana should be regulated and taxed just like alcohol and tobacco as it is infinitely less harmful than either of those addictive, highly toxic substances. Most marijuana users are much more responsible and socially engaged people than your question might suggest you are.

Yes. Legalize.
I don't want a marijuana bust to take up a cell when a REAL criminal gets cut loose early because there's no bed space.
