This motto is a recent - 1950s - addition. In the 50s, there was a very great deal of conformity and "go along to get along." Few people gave it any mind.

Nowadays, people are quite concerned about religion getting into government and many would like religious phrases removed from oaths and money, etc., to show separation of church and state.

I personally feel that the money buys the same amount of the same stuff, whether "God" is on it or not. I don't think it is right to have it, but I don't think people are harmed by it, either, and I think there are better, more important church-state issues to fight than a phrase on a bill.

How would you like it if you lived in a country that claimed not to endorse any religion but had Muhammed emblazoned on its currency?

And to the idiot above me, NO ONE claims that god has been on or money since 1950. That's god being in the pledge of allegiance, a reference not added until the fifties. Dumbass.

My pastor says so. And, they shouldnt be allowed to. God has been on money since the beginning of America - that lie about it only being on since 1950 isnt true!! Florida had it on their money in the early 1800s - and we all know that Florida was one of the original colonies. So, God shouldnt be removed from money.

Yes, sadly they are.

I should tell you right now that I am not religious whatsoever. But whether a god exists or not, it still represents something powerful. Definitely in my opinion a good symbol to have for the most powerful country on Earth.

Yes, just as they took God out of schools.
Now people are wondering why the children are going to school killing the teachers and other children.

If it happens in our government, it's going to be the beginning of the end.
