I'm craving mini pizza, I have the base, ham and cheese but I don't want to open a new tomato paste cos I don't have anything else to use it up with (that and I can't be bothered to make the effort to cook up something else JUST to use it up). So I thought about BBQ sauce, but I wasn't sure if normal table barbeque sauce would work as well. I think it may be too runny, but then again it could thicken up when it gets cooked...does anyone know if it works to use normal table bbq sauce???

I've been a pizza cook, and worked in restaurants that serve pizza. For the BBQ Chicken Pizza we made it was regular BBQ sauce, but because it is stronger in flavor, you don't need a whole lot. Use it sparingly and should work fine.

There are hundreds of different BBQ sauces, out there, so it is hard to say what the norm is. If your sauce is thicker then why not give it a try. Lots of things can be a base for pizza besides the tomato sauce kind.

It just depends on the pizza you want. BBQ with ham and cheese is yummy so why not a ham and cheese BBQ pizza. Give it a try. If it turns out REALLY yummy then open a pizza chain..........LOL.

Enjoy!! :)

There's a million types of table bbq sauce, so there isn't just a "normal". There is no specific "pizza barbecue sauce".

I'm not sure I would use bbq sauce as THE sauce - usually bbq pizzas have the meat basted in bbq sauce, and maybe some mixed in with the pizza sauce, but it'd be hard to have only bbq sauce, just like it's hard to eat too much of the stuff straight.

Mix it in with your pizza sauce in small quantities, and maybe put your toppings in it.

Yes. Have you ever heard of Barbeque Chicken Pizza?

I would not recommend it, b-b-q sauce has a lot of sugar in it, and it could burn, and not taste very good. Tomato paste can be frozen if need be.
