Getting the fluid out isn't very hard. It's putting the fluid in that's a hard part, liked stated above replace the seals and gaskets.l but here's the important part. You have to have the Fluid EXACTLY at 86 degrees F. If you don't do this, it's possible you will have transmission problems in the future. It's really hard to do this manually, the dealers have a computer that heats it for them and puts it in, it's your best bet. Also, even though VW says the Fluid is permanent it,s still a good idea to change it about 90,000. Use the Synthetic blend, the fluid doesn't break down when it's synthetic, although it's the dirt and gunk that causes problems. Hope this helps. :-)

you have to pull the pan off the transmission to drain it . installed new seal -the seal will come with 4 sleeve to insert where the 4 olts goes to prevent over torquing . installed transmission pan
add ONLY VW transmission oil G052 162 A2 it's a little pricey..you going to need about 4 quarts..do not use any other fluids. removed the 5 mm hex bolt on the bottom of trans -add fluids till it run from the 5 mm hex bolt hole . run the car for 10 minutes add till it run out again ..

You need to unbolt the transmission pan, dont take the bolts out all the way at first so you can tilt the pan and drain the fluid. After you drain the fluid finish removing the bolts, put them in an old coffe cup you dont want to lose even one. You will need a new filter and gasket from the parts store. remove filter, replace gasket bolt pan back on, dont torgue bolts too tight you can crack the gasket and will ahve a leak. add fluid, all done.

It is a basic sequence to do the job, if you didnt understand anything I said, or dont know where the pan and filter are, go to jiffy lube and pay to have them do it.

According to vw, it never needs service - it doesn't even have a dipstick! As a matter of fact, their transmissions are reasonably dependable - unlike the rest of the car.
