I am right to assume you know what form I am talking about? I believe I cut myself around 10 times or so. Never with the idea of suicide. First out of pure curiousity, but as it progressed and became more of an indulgence in the later hours. There is an obvious darker connection that goes hand in hand with this and I won't deny that. But now, I have the constant urge to continue again. Besides of the obvious scarring, It doesn't seem like there's anything more negative than that for me. Do you think maybe it's really not all that bad?

It is very bad, and isn't healthy, I think that sometimes when you have a lot on your mind you need something to take your mnd off of it, I have done the same thing, but later when it progressed it, Became me wanting to commit suicide, and I tried to seek help, but others said deal with it, when you are dealing with something and it causes you to harm yourself then there is a deeper problem, it could mean our oppressed, depressed, or you just like the feeling of the blood and how it releases from your body, that's temptation, you cutting yourself, but you need to be careful cause if you use the wron blade then you can poison yourself and get sick or even die. I don't judge you because I am not in your shoes to say why you do what you do, and as far as you wanting to do it, again, I can understand because it's somthing you have done for som long and it becomes an addiction.

so maybe you need to find another sourcce of your gettting away, like being online, or going outside, or hitting an object, but not harming yourself or others, I remember when I wanted to take my life because I was abused to much, I stood by the drawer of nives cause I wanted to get that nife, but for whatever reason I couldn't fix my feet to move, I feel grateful that i am here, please don't miss a good opportunity trying to hurt yourself, cause I was there but because of God I am here answering your question

Self-mutilation by definition has no intonations of suicidal ideation. If it did, then that would really be a suicide attempt.

I really would urge you to get help before the problem gets out of control, because even if it's relatively controllable now, it won't be next year or the year after. You'll ever so gradually slip into cutting just a little deeper, just a few more. You also said that you have the constant urge to continue again. This worries me, because it seems you have already experienced the addictive tendencies of self-injury.

The intoxication with cutting will evolve into a dependence on it. Your life will be consumed.

What do you have to lose? Your ability to wear short sleeves or shorts in 90 degree weather, your confidence in public when people stare or look disgusted, your job (not a good thing to lose), your friends (nobody will understand), and your mind. Believe me that the scarring will never go away. It will fade, but it will always be there.

Cutting is the devil. Please get help before it eats you alive. You won't know how bad it will make things until you become paralyzed by the cycle of depression it creates.

"Cutting" has a few reasons for is existence. The first reason is that a person can't really feel emotionally and that cutting gives them something to feel. Another is that the pain during the cutting gets their mind off of whats hurting them emotionally - it distracts them for a few moments. Find out why you want to cut, because cutting isn't a problem in itself, but a symptom of a larger problem within a person.

Its really bad and shows a under lying emotional problem. You have big time issues. People who cut have emotional problems and/or are depressed or holding there feeling in. Its a fact. You know if you are sad or whatever. Alot of ppl mostly girls cut themselves if they have been sexually abused. Sexually abuse and cutting go hand and hand but alot of times it is emotional problems! Its bad! I have done it when i was 14 15 and 16 and looking back i was a emotional wreck. You know whats in your heart....knock it off!

Well, I know exactly what you mean. It's true, you don't really think it's so bad. I've only been doing it for about a week. I need to stop. If I get caught, I'm screwed and I don't want to get sucked into the addiction. Email me and we can talk.

I think you already know the answer to your question. Self-mutilation is usually the sign of deeper mental problems, and you are smart enough to know that. Start getting some help- please.
