Those kidney infections are wicked!! The whole body often feels like it was run over by a truck...weakness, chills, vomiting.

It sounds as though you need another course of antibiotics. If your infection was that bad, and considering the delay I'm almost sure it was, one course of antibiotics may not be enough. It sounds as though you only took antibiotics for a week; you may need another week. You need to go back to the doc and tell him your symptoms.

The itching could be an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. Kidney failure can also cause itching, but I wouldn't say that's what your problem is at this time. It's very difficult to know what's going on with someone without seeing them and lab results. Your best bet is a return visit to your doc.

I'm sure you're drinking lots of fluids; keep that up. You want to flush the kidney on a continuous basis. Be sure you're eating properly and getting enough electrolytes too. In other words, 8 cups of water are good, but add some other fluids too.

You are going to have to be patient. Your body has been through a lot, and it's going to take time for it to fully recover. Good luck!

The antibiotic may have no gotten all the bacteria. I would go back to my doctor just to be sure, if you dont get that taken care of it can lead to major kidney problems, even failure. I dont know that the itch is related, maybe a mild reaction? But i would go back to your doctor soon....
