You can wear it for the first few days of reception, when you get fitted for you uniform you can not wear your civilian clothes until you graduate basic, leave for Exodus, or you leave due to injury. Meanwhile your Drill Sgt will tell you what to where every morning. By the way Exodus is like a vacation Christmas vacation is a good example of Exodus

Yes, they ask you to bring your warmest winter jacket. Then one day they will have you wear it and ask all the men which one has the warmest coat. You'll confess its your coat because its from Walmart, feels thick, and is bright yellow. Then they'll put you in a freezer to climate condition you for extreme conditions. The coat fails cuz its so cheap making you shiver so bad and you can't salute the sgt. anymore.

You can wear it if you have some time off, but more than likely you will be wearing the Marine Field Jacket.

You turn in ALL civilian clothing and other contraband during the first hours of basic training... it is then mailed to your home of record.
I can STILL remember standing in formation on the grinder at NRTC Orlando almost 21 years ago today... 4am, a wonderful Florida thunderstorm dumping GALLONS on us as we stood and sweated in the fine raincoat and those damned dixie-cups !

i pass to maintain my container jacket, excelent for tenting. Im distinctly specific you may shop yours yet once you pass to the region that subject concerns your stuff they'd desire to have the skill to grant you with an itemized record of what you will desire to teach in, and you will request it at any time purely before out-processing.

Are you serious? You will wear ONLY what they want you to wear. They will tell you when and what to wear at ALL times. No civilian jackets or no jamies.

NO. At reception, any personal items that are not authorized (anything other than toiletries) will be locked up until you graduate. You will be required to wear only the items that are issued to you.

Get used to it... its not gonna happen.
Your butts gonna be all theirs during basic training!!!
