You have to fill in the blank with name of the church. You left out part of the exercise. In spanish church is iglesia.

you're supposed to write into the blanks the places that the Fernandez family went. fueron is the ellos preterite form of ir. so the first sentence means : First they went to visit________, which is a very old church.
