In my opinion it kinda goes hand in hand with 'You don't know what you have until its gone' If the person you care about is always around then you generally tend to take their presence for granted. When they go away for a prolonged period you think about them more often and see them in a different light, this will go one of two ways depending if they have a positive or negative impact on your life.
That's my take on it anyways, hope you found it usefull

I think at times absence makes you think about them and miss them a lot. but at other times, its not that it's grown fonder, its that you haven't had contact with them and thus have had no problems with them. that way you can idealize the times you have had together and fantasize about times you may one day have together. when you're in a relationship with somebody and they're there besides you, besides the good parts, there are always conflicts and problems as well.

It doesn't. If anything, absence helps you to move on with your life. Eventually, you'll forget all about that person and find someone who is actually around and wants to stick around and be with you! There are some exceptions to this of course, but you need to be more specific when asking your questions.

Because you think about the person and the good things they've done to make your life better. It works either way, if there is someone who isn't good for you, usually you wind up realizing what a jerk they've been
