The "s" means stiff but what is stiff for one manufacturer is not necessarily stiff for another manufacturer. It's a matter of trial and elimination. Shaft manufacturers don't have a standard code of shaft flexibility.

It is how flexible the shaft is.

Of course metal will not give and is best for those really strong types. Mine is more of a fiber glass material that is really flexible. It bends just a little when I hit the ball.

It stands for "stiff" flex theres also "r" for regular and "x" for extra stiff "w" for women's theres also a senior flex usauly "a"
if your swing speed is higher than 95 mph you will need stiff flex.
