I think that if you look at it objectively people aren't 'againt' you or any Christian people. What I personally tend to object to is someone who tries to force THEIR beliefs and fit them onto MY soul.
I think it's wonderful that you have beliefs that work with you. You should be excited about your God and Savior and look forward to the final times. If you weren't happy about those things you'd probably be looking for a different theology.
I don't think I've ever once said "I'm too good for Jesus, I don't need him." Don't think I've though it either.
And no, I won't be going with you. I'm going someplace else and I know it's a comforting resting place. I'm not really excited about it because I have a different philosophy regarding death and transformation.
But do I need changing? Nope, I'm content with who I am and where I'm going. Most of the time. It took a lot of years and living to get where I am.
Blessings,
Zimmi

Friend, it is very hard for people to believe in something there is no real proof for. It is also hard to accept that taking Jesus as your savior is what's needed to get into heaven. Even if you are a very good person, but have a hard time believing, you can't get in, and you suffer for an eternity. And all christians look forward to this. Do you understand why it's upsetting to some people? I'm glad Jesus makes you happy. His teachings made me very very happy. I don't put Jesus above God though.

I'm only against the Christians who are arrogant, preachy and condescending. Kind of like you.
Who said "we are too good for Jesus? Isn't that your interpretation because you can't understand how anyone could NOT believe in your god? People DO have other religions and some simply don't believe in a god at all. Which part of that is so hard to get?
No one needs to believe in your religion to get to heaven.

Because they cannot mind their own business.
*********************************************
“The long-term goal of Christians in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of God by submitting to His Church's public marks of the covenant - baptism and holy communion - must be denied citizenship, just as they were in ancient Israel.”
Gary North - Political Polytheism: The Myth of Pluralism (1989)
“I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good... Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a biblical duty, we are called on by God to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want pluralism.”
Randall Terry - The News Sentinel, (Fort Wayne, Indiana), August 16, 1993.
*********************************************
Mankind tries to shove the universe into a wee tidy box so they can claim to understand it all, and from this mentality come all the cookie-cutter religions that say that they are the ONLY way.
This nation (America) was founded upon the notion that individualism is sacred. But, in this day, individualism is scorned. Ye must be part of a recognized group (whether you agree with them or not) to have any clout.
In all the universe, there is no evidence of anything being absolute, therefore how can there be an all-inclusive, absolute way for everyone? Mechanically chanting five Hail Mary's might do something for some people, but it does nothing for me, so why waste my time?
Around here, we have a church almost on every corner, and not one of them can agree with each other. Whenever they go about prosletyzing against witchcraft (usually around Hallowe'en time), they make it so blatently obvious that they have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. And most of the time, can't even navigate themselves through scriptures of their own Bible.
There is an inbuilt circular reasoning that excludes genuine logic We have a book that tells us that it is genuine and that it is the word of God - how do we know it is genuine and the word of God? because that selfsame book itself tells us that it is...total self endorsement with no other genuine accounts to reason or confirm the matter.
Why think for yourself when a well-off pastor is so happy and willing to do it for ye?
All around the country in their little church houses, there is a buzz of excitement.
"Jesus is coming! Jesus is coming! It's such an exciting time to be alive!" (sic)
What is the cause of their merriment? Look to the east...prophecy is being fulfilled. Missiles flying everywhere. -- An exciting time to be alive?? -- Tell that to the mothers who must bury their children who were obliterated by the bombs of their elders.
Since the creation of the Israeli nation in 1948, when has it ever seen peace? And every decade, the Christians point and say,"See? see?" and return to their pulpits and hype it up with euphoric glee.
They watch their own world deteriorate before them and count it as another "sign" War, poverty, crime, pollution....Do they try to do anything about it? -- What?? And prolong the coming of Christ? Are you crazy? --
Most prove themselves to be hypocrites.
If a Messiah does return, it shall be to spit in their faces with contempt how they have treated others throughout history.

Speaking as an atheist, I have never met anyone who said they were "too good for Jesus." Some people just hate Christianity and everything it stands for. They are entitled to their own beliefs. The world full of hate...I'm sure there are some things you hate as do I. Try to learn to accept it for what it is and not criticize it for it should be....hope that makes sense...peace.

In response to Piccilo, I am a Christian, and I do have now and have had multiple athiest friends. I do not push my opinions upon them, although we have had conversations about religion. It is the belief of Christianity that if you believe in God, (and this is a summary) that you will go to heaven and be eternally happy. So, where is the problem that you have with total strangers wishing you happiness? It's a rare occurance in this day and age that someone who does not know you cares enough about a total stranger to wish them peace and happiness, regardless of whether they deserve it or not. It's not as though every Christian out there is put on this earth to convert you to our way of thinking, but do believe that if they try to talk to you about believing in God, that they have what they believe to be your better interests in mind.

You answered your own question
I don't believe Christianity and I resent your desire to "save" me
I also don't believe in the gods of ancient greece, at least that religion died out before the internet
Christianity will take a little longer, but it will go too

what's the problem? when christianity becomes involved with politics, that's when it's a problem. when millions of jews died in the holocaust. when thousands of innocent women were burned at the stake for witchcraft. when millions of middleeasterners were killed during the crusades. we people are discriminated against because of their religion of lack there of, and often hurt or killed. when people are called evil and devil worshippers for believing in science and evolution and facts and not in god. what my problem? ignorant people like you, that's my problem. people who think that they are better than everyone else because they're christians. i'm an atheist and all the christians hate me. i have as good of morals, usually better, as they do, and they HATE me. that's my problem. they say that they are the divine beings, the divine religion, that they are better than everyone else, and that everyone else is going to perish in the burning depths of hell. that's my problem, the unwillingness to accept others different and their inability to ADMIT THAT THEY ARE WRONG!!!

The people are generally OK, it's the ideas and beliefs that are wrong. I'm ready to try to change that.
