it wouldn't have to be a "being." It could be just the Ultimate nature of reality, for example.

i do, it is not a personified being/deity, but the ultimate power/force in the world, that could be considered Life+Nature+everything else = the All

I read a great quote in Skeptic magazine, of all places:

"Extra Terrestrials are deities for athiests"

I believe this completely. Ask any athiest you know if they believe in Aliens, and chances are they will say yes, even though there is NO EVIDENCE they exist!

Think about it, Aliens fulfill all the requirements for "a god";
They possess superior intelligence, technology, morals, etc., in other words - god-like abilities.

And there is less evidence for aliens, than there is for God, angels, or devils;
Fewer people claim to have seen them, and no humans even beleived or thought of them until less than 150 years ago, "coincidentally" after science fiction writers started writing about them.

Yet these people smugly laugh at people who are supposedly stupid enough to believe in god when there is no evidence.
Well folks, there's no evidence that there is even so much as a microbe anywhere but earth, yet they believe it all.
Same thing.

If an ultimate being exists, it is no better (or worse) than I am, and if it wants me to believe in it, it had better make an appearance.

The universe.
Death.
Anything that ends.
Anyone named "Ultimate".

Nature, maybe, is the ultimate force which guides our planet. But I don't believe in any sort of god whatsoever.
