You have to look at your audience. If it will be mainly the mission team and folks who are already Christians, you could do a variety of things. You could do something with Jesus making the 2 fishermen apostles and the miracle of them catching more fish than they could handle and Jesus saying he'd make them fishers of men (Matt 4 and Mark 1). Or Paul was a missionary, so he'd have tons for you to draw on for a great encouraging lesson for missionaries. He went through lots of adversity, but always kept his eye on the prize-heaven. You could talk about the Great Commission or add it to one of the above.

If it will be Christians and possibly (or definitely) alot of visitors and non believers from the community that perhaps you went door to door inviting, then I'd do something basic or relating to "What do I have to do to be saved?" (Acts 2:37-42, to start with, Romans 6, Rom 12:1-2, 9-21). In Acts 2 the people raise this very question and Peter answers. Verse 42 raises an important point that those who were baptized continued in the apostles doctrine, as we should.

Or maybe John 5, the pool of Bethesda. Jesus asks the man, much like he is asking us today, "do you want to be made well?" The man doesn't answer directly, but makes an excuse as to why it is impossible. The analogy can be made that we tend to make excuses why we aren't ready to commit ourselves to God rather than just answer Jesus and respond. You could go a variety of directions with that one, but that is what I get from it. And end the talk of course with what one must do to be saved.

Salvation. Is that not the objective of a mission trip?

I'd do a study with the Gospel of John and the Book of Romans.

I would do it on the Deity of Christ. Christ as God is one of the biggest struggles others have with Christianity. They can't reconcile how the Son of God is just as important and on the same level with the Father. They think he is a prophet, an angel or a "good person". Do a complete study on his His Godship, the Trinity and the fact that the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are One in subtance but three in persons. Also NOT as three modes of the same person as oneness pentecostals believe. Its a big subject but I can't imagine what could serve you better in the mission fields. That and the validity of the Bible and God's divine inspiration of it. I've never been but I pray God guides you in His truth.

Try something challenging, like Genesis 38. It's a fascinating story about doing one's religious duty in a culture with very different values from ours. I think it could provide a great missionary lesson, to guard against cultural assumptions when sharing the word of God.

Are you a man or a woman?

Woman: the Book of Ruth - very inspiring and will encourage you on your pending journey.

Man: Job. His dedication inspires me even though I am not a very religious person.

I think that's an answer you should be seeking God for in prayer. Ask Him what He wants to say through you from His Word.
