Because we Americans want the absolute cheapest price!!
China has the cheapest labor the cheapest processing. Government owned power and there are no government USDA officials to look over their shoulders!.
Follow the money!

Almost everything nowadays comes from China, because it is cheaper. Why would manufactures spend, lets say, 3000 dollars for what they need to make the pet food when they could only spend 1000? It's business, plain and simple.

That my freind is the mystery here... why indeed? Could it be becuase the Chinese wheat was not human grade and could be gotten real cheap? That the wheat we do have here is too high quality for "animal consumption" and petfood manufacturers don't feel thay have to pay the obvious higher price?
I want answers too.

Don't forget rat poison. I don't know why they use low-grade ingredients, but it's one of the reasons I won't feed the store-brand food to my kitty.

Considering that farmers are paid regularly to NOT grow wheat and corn in many places, That my friend is a great question!

Wake up everyone. China gives us their junk. No two ways about it. You lose your job or get underpaid, so they can sell us crap.

Because its cheap. That's also why they use euthanized animals, by-products and liquefied chicken fats.
