There is the Stratus - clouds are horizontal, layered clouds that stretch out across the sky like a blanket

There is the cummulus - Cumulus clouds are puffy in appearance. They look like large cotton balls

There is the cirrus - Cirrus clouds are very wispy and feathery looking

Those are the three general types of clouds.
