i have a ticking lifter on a 99 dodge neon now i doesnt do it constantly i have had three recomendations. Put Tranny fluid in with oil and run about 100 miles then change the oil. Someone also told me to use Marvel Mystery oil. Im looking to see which is the best or other recomendations. This tick is really annoying i know its not the fuel because i have added sea foam and STP octane booster and nothing came of it. Please help.

If it is not too bad.. just a slight tick.. I would try Mobile one synthetic oil. I have done this in the past in a few diff. cars to quiet down the engine. Otherwise your gonna have to pin-point which rocker that carries the noisy lifter and replace it. If you drive too long on a noisy lifter.. chances are, the camshaft is gonna have a flat lobe also..( tear-down and inspect..it would be pretty obvious when you look at the cam lobe.. the hard chrome surface will be wore off..)

The trany fluid is the way to go BUT only leave it in for about 10-20 min. Put a Qt. in run the engine and just let it idle trany fluid is a high detergent and driving with it IS NOT GOOD AT ALL just let it idle for 10-20 min and drain change the filter and that should clean out any slug you might have.

i own a shop, and the tranny fluid is a good idea i just wouldn't run it 100 miles .maybe around 50 and then get it out of there it does help the lifters a lot though and may help stop a lot of the ticking also, good luck hope this helps.

Marvel Mystery Oil Kicks @SS{pardon my french} If not that when you change the oil add one quart of trop artic synthetic! I bet at an idle your neon smokes a bit too.If so you have worn valve guides.

He capacity that " while you're making him mad " , then you easily "tick him off" . even though it comes from the army, whilst a guy gets into worry, the petty officer could positioned a mark beside his call, and "tick him off! ".
