you can also infuse the watermelon by slicing and marinating. Simply slice the watermelon into dinner plate style slices, lay on paper towels and let dry for an hour. Then take your choice of alcohol and (after placing watermelon slices in a dish with high sides) pour over the watermelon. Cover and refrigerate for 1 day and then remove from booze and wrap to retain moisture. Keep refrigerated for up to 2 days!

Cut a hole at the top of the watermelon about the size of the opening of the vodka bottle. Create a hole about as deep as your pointing finger. Let the amount you like pour into the watermelon. Let sit for at least 20 to 25 minutes. Move watermelon around so the vodka dont just settle in one area. Pour out any vodka that didnt absorb in the watermelon through the hole. Cut and Enjoy!

I attend WeFest ( a large country music festival in MN) and every year the same group does this in the campground. They bring about 50 watermelons and infuse each watermelon with one liter of alcohol. On the first day the cut a small hole in the top of the watermelon, just deep enough for the neck of the bottle to fit in. They let the watermelons marinate for 2 days and slice them open and serve them the third day. It's the best! At least 150 people show up to eat this stuff, it's tradition. Most of the bottle soaks into the watermelon, so it's pretty potent, but they use a lot of schnapps and different flavored puckers. Good luck!

INGREDIENTS
* 1 seedless watermelon
* 1 1/2 cups rum, or as needed
DIRECTIONS
1. Rinse the outer rind of the watermelon thoroughly, and pat dry. Set the watermelon in a position so it will not roll over. Press the tip of a funnel through the rind of the melon. If using a plastic funnel, you may need to cut a hole.
2. Situate the melon on a towel in the bottom of the refrigerator or on the counter. Pour rum into the funnel a little at a time, refilling as it seeps into the melon. I start the afternoon before, since we usually leave to go to events in the morning. Allow the melon to marinate at least a few hours, before removing the funnel. Slice just before serving.

Simply cut a hole in the top of the melon, wide and deep enough to insert a funnel. Pour some of your chosen alcohol into the melon through the funnel, leave to sit for a day and pour in some more. The flesh will absorb the liquid, so pour in some more the next day--basically until it becomes saturated. When ready to serve, slice up into nice big pieces and get all your friends plastered on it!
