I'm enlisting as an 11bravo. I wanna be a grunt and I know the army is understaffed for them right now. I'd like to go to basic in may do you think I can somehow start basic training in MAY? is there anyway I can influence that?

you can almost pick the date you will leave..but basic will be hot and humid down in ft. benning my husband left june 23 and every letter i got and all the phone calls there was always someone out due to the heat...wait a little longer if you want to make things a little more pleasant........dont forget when you sign check what bonus they will give....my husband received $20,000 of course it is not a lump sum its over time but it is additional to the normal pay......when they ask who is interested in rangers or airborne my suggestion would be to wait the extra time but get it down there right after because it seemed to be more difficult to get it down after you get to your station....or get it written into your contract!!

When you go to M.E.P.S., they will give you a physical, and give you the opportunity to sign up for the date you will enter into BASIC TRAINING. The soldier that is there will help ensure that you have the exact date you are wanting to leave and to go into Basic Training. Good luck, and God's speed.

My advice is to wait to start basic training in September. If you go in May then you will be at Fort Benning during the hottest part of the year.

Tell your recruiter and he will tell the guy at MEPS if you do this there will be a very good chance you leeave in May i wanted to leave in July for Marine Corps Bootcamp and i leave July 23rd.

its ur funeral...i thought the same way march of 03, me and 4 of my friends wanted to go fight wars...we did and now its just me and on left...and ive been mutilated.......yes, talk to meps, they can help/.
