I see no harm done f you give kitty some tuna now and again. I used to give my cat human-grade tuna at least 3 times a week (it was water based and I mixed it with boiled rice) when we lived in Asia and good quality petfood was hard to find. Never did any harm to my cat and he is now 9 years old.
One of the more annoying backlash from the recent petfood recall is that pet guardians like us have become really leery about giving our beloved pets wet pet food, thus depriving them of the simple pleasure of eating something juicy and that smells so good to them.
I did a lot of research since the petfood recall. Like man others, I wanted to get away from any petfood produced by Menufoods. I narrowed down to Natural Balance, but there are quite a lot still out there that are very very good.
Here is a list of good quality wet food you might consider (none are made by Menufoods):
1. Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul
2. Felidae
3. Breeder's Choice/Pinnacle (except for Chicken and Oats formula which is made by Menu)
4. Natural Balance
5. Solid Gold
6. Triumph/Evolve
7. Merrick
I hope your kitty gives you a kitty-kiss for caring so much about her.

She might be spoiled, I have been feeding my cat tuna lately because it is the only thing he can hold down, he has been sick, now I am mixing it with some cat food so he will get back into eating it. Tuna alone is not a proper diet for your cat, maybe there is something wrong with the dry food or a bad tooth, has she had a dental? I know, this cat food scare, has got us all shook up. good for you, you give her sodium free. maybe try to blend up a touch of green bean into the tuna as well. There is home made recipes too for making cat food, I am going to do it. Do a google search. It is safer and no additives. It also don't hurt to boil white meat chicken, not the skin and bones! Good Luck, it don't take much to spoil them. They do need some canned food as well, can't live on dry alone, I know I wouldn't want to. Try some fancy feast chicken and tuna feast. Stay away from anything that is made with grvy, no matter what brand it is, this is the vet's advice.

There are many wet foods that were not manufactured by Menu Foods and not involved in the recall. Some of the brands such as California Naturals and Innova are safe. There are several other brands as well that are not manufactured by that company and are safe for your cat to eat.
Canned tuna will not provide her with a balanced diet. If she won't eat dry, do some research and find her a new canned food.

Maybe mix the tuna with the dry food. But use only a little of the tuna. I give my cat tuna every now and then as a treat.

Can't you just put her back on canned cat food? A little tuna is all right in small doses, but the oils in it are--on the whole--not good for cats.
Try mixing the wet with a little dry food and slowly weaning her onto dry.

You could try to feed your cat some canned food, and if she likes tuna, maybe try a tuna flavored one. My six cats have different appetites, but canned food is their biggest treat! If this doesn't work, see your vet, and maybe track her behavior adn check to see if she might have an eating problem. CAT FOOD IS BETTER FOR THEM. It is like dog situations, it is healthier for them to eat food specialized for them, not from the table/human food. Royal Canin is something you might want to look into, they have special things for mature cats etc.

dont feel guilty when she looks at you like shes starving..i did the same thing with my cat, by giving him tuna, and i had to be hard on him..when she is hungry, she WILL eat the dry..dont feel like you are being mean to her..it took a few weeks for him to get over the fact that he wasnt getting what he wanted, and everything went back to normal..i hope it helps you..
