I went to Target the other day. It was around 9:50pm and they made an announcement that they were closing in 10 minutes. I saw an employee, they call the team members, and I told them I am in a wheelchair and that I am not done shopping. The kind team member told me that I could continue shopping as long as I wanted and that she would inform her manager I was still in the store. Around 10:30pm, I am being followed. I wheel around and its a supervisor. She told me I had to leave. I told her I would leave when I am done and that I was told I could continue shopping. She told me she had to shut down the registers and that Target was not 24 hours like Wal-Mart. She walked away angry. A few minutes later, I heard on the loudspeaker that all customers are being asked to leave the store. I ignored it and around 11:30pm, the local police came and nicely wheeled me to the register to pay for my things, then escorted me out. Why can't Target be 24 hours so I am not inconveinenced?

I believe Target's hours are 8am - 10pm. Thats extremely inconveinent for someone like me who wants to shop when they want to.

The local police were very nice about the whole thing and talked to me for a few minutes outside the store. They found the situation somewhat comical. I wasn't laughing being I was very upset and not done shopping.

Sorry but I am afraid I agree with the people who posted before me.

Those poor Target employees stayed almost 2 hours past their scheduled time because YOU decided to wait until late at night to do your shopping.

If it is absolutely necessary to shop at night, go to a 24 hour store like Walmart or Walgreens. If you have to go to Target, go earlier in the day (even if it means setting your alarm to 6:30am).

Furthermore, those employees were not discriminating against you. Hours are posted for safety and legal reasons. Regardless of race of disability, EVERYONE has to follow it.

You have to be freakin joking.... Those nazi's would not let you finish your shopping over an hour and a half after the store closes. That is riduculous. For goodness sakes! Doesn't everyone know that they are supposed to cater to the handicapped? I mean Target was only losing like 1,500 dollars per hour so you can buy some wheat thins, anti chair chaff spray and shiny scalp wax. What were they thinking? Capitalist pigs.

I am pretty sure there is a law that says that the handicapped can do anything they want, park on sidewalks, abuse children, pay for everything with change, and eat gum drops all day long, and all of that on the taxpayers dime. I am so happy for you. What a grand life.

Unfortunately, even souless, heartless, faceless corporations like target have to turn a profit, if they left store open for handi's so they could shop in a fully staffed place whenever their uncapable bodies felt like it then they would be broke in within a year. Grow some good legs and get a job, maybe then you will understand that the world does not owe you anything. And remember that next time I see a handi that needs help, I am not going to help them thanks to the ignorance in this post... do not forget to check out the link.
FACE!

ok so you feel that the fact that Target should be open 24 hours so you wont be inconveincenced? WOW! Sir im sorry to say that you stoped hard working people from doing there job and disruped there lifes to suite your needs now thats just rude and wrong no matter how you look at it. If you have a need to shop late at night pick a store that is open to shop at, or do like the rest of the rational thinking people and get there with ample time to shop. Sorry to here your in a wheel chair but that is noreason to act like a illmannered child

Sorry, but the store was more than tolerant to your attitude. Stores can't just stay open because you feel like shopping late. You were aware of the hours so you shouldn't have stayed so long. I think you were just trying to see if they would ask you to leave. I used to work as a waitress, we closed at 9:00, then we'd have to close out the register, clean up, wait for the manager to see if our receipts matched the amount in the register, etc. When people stayed late it made us have to leave late. Most of my co-workers had small kids at home. I had to drive 30 minutes to get home. It was frustrating when customers would come in late and then linger. You inconvenienced the manager and the rest of the store workers who had to stay there because of you. You are lucky they even let you purchase your items. Yes, they are there to provide a service for you, and they get paid for that job, but that doesn't mean they have to wait around after closing time. If you like to shop at your convenience then go to Wal-Mart, if you like Target then make sure you go early enough.

Target's hours are set by corporate. They have probably done studies and ran reports to show it's not financially beneficial to be open past a certain time. You are the customer if you do not want to be inconveinenced, then either shop there during normal business hours or don't shop there at all. It's as simple as that. I used to work as a manager at a major retail chain and people who wern't courteous enough to observe our normal shoping hours P!ssed me off. I would get in trouble for having overtime or my employees having overtime because people weren't courteous. You are really inconveinencing people when you stay late.

get there earlier. many places aren't 24 hours a day, and you can't just go whenever you want to. You stayed more than an hour and a half past closing time, which inconveniences the clerks and supervisors who must close up the shop. You knew the store closed at 10pm. You should've planned accordingly; workers there expected to be let out at 10pm, and they were instead unexpectedly asked to stay. If they had plans, they would've been ruined.

This has to be a joke. Take your money to another store next time so you are not inconvenienced.

You inconvenienced everyone there at Target by keeping yourself there. Had it occurred to you that the employees have families that they need to get home to? That some are supposed to be there to open the store the next morning ... an extra hour and a half is a LONG time.

You were rude, not them.

When the team member allowed you to continue shopping she probably assumed you would have the courtesy to finish your shopping quickly and not still be ithere an hour and a half after the store had closed. You took advantage of the offer and showed no consideration for staff who would be tired after working and wanting to go home.

Why didn't you go someplace where you could shop until you were done? You heard their announcement when you went in the store, their hours are posted, it isn't like they decided to close down and make you leave just because they felt like it.

Hey bud that's a though one, but the employees had a place to be not to mention the cost of keeping them around longer.
For safety sake get your shopping done earlier, I heard that crime was higher around the 24/7 place.
