A family friend once told me when I was around 15 and dealing with a very verbally abusive and sometimes physically abusive step-father that I had the choice on how I react. I have the choice on what to do with my life. No matter what happens in life, you always have a choice on how to act. No one can MAKE you do anything.

There are other nice things, but for some reason on reading this question, this is what came to mind. I was a at 4 day course (a ladies course I suppose it was) still, there was a young girl there,17 or thereabouts, and after only a couple of days of us getting to briefly get to know each other,,, she said to me that she thought she would like to have me as her Mother...
I'm not such a big head as to think I am so great but at the moment of saying,,, it was a moving moment and I was really very touched.
What can I say, as to it influencing my life,,, no,,, can't say as it did,,, ,,,,it did add to it it and perhaps gave a little confirmation, that all I do is not wrong,,,my outlook hasn't changed, either from such a nice remark as that, or others that I have recieved over the years, it's all relevant I think,m'dear. Not ONE nice remark but many, have 'helped' or, influenced my outlook or attitude on life and my character.
Ahh, the good old ego,,,needs a bit of stroking from time to time, As well, we also have to keep our ears open. I'm lucky, I have kids who say the nicest things daily (mostly) so I get my regular quota. Apparantley, I have nice eyebrows too!!??:-))
Many people say such a lot of nice things,,, sometimes, we are just too busy or preoccupied to take them on board.
Hope you have/get your fair share too,,,
come on,,, spill the beans,,,, Who said something really nice to you??? Tell all,,,;-)

Whats the nicest thing someone said to me? I would have to say "I was worth fighting for" The guy I was about to marry was fighting in Iraq at the time. It says a lot. I never know that the love of a woman would mean so much to him. It made me feel speical.

Well, no one has really said anything so nice that it has changed the person that I am.
However, I always like it when people genuinely tell me that I've made their day. It makes me feel great that I could make them happy. And just your plain old happy but so happy that their day got brighter - because of me. There definitely is more happiness in giving than in receiving.

I've never had any friends. I'm the geek/nerd everyone loves to hate. But one day this new kid came from NY and everyone picked on him because he's a 7th grader and still likes dinosaurs. But this one day he came up to me and said "hi, You are beautiful" then ran away and before I ever could say thank you his family moved back to NY.

My wife said it all with two words which were spoken in front of one hundred and thirty people:
"I do."
When you think about it, that's my answer to all of your questions!
