You will need at least 2 feet of water below the jetski before starting. If anything less than 2 feet, you are risking the chance of sucking dirt and debris through the intake, which could result in having to repair it in the long run. At 3 feet, you are safe. If you are in water less than 2 feet, you will need to push your ski out until you are in at least 2 feet of water. The guy who sold you the ski and told you that doesn't know what he is talking about. If you start the ski in 2 inches of water, you are sucking in dirt and you will bottom out.

A figure of speech selling tool. If it was an old stand up ski, and was been launched from a beach tote, he could get away with it... Maybe!

On the average, 2 to 3 feet deep is needed at the trailer tires.

Too many deciding factors. It's hard to give specific answer.
Personal watercraft size and weight make a difference.
Trailer size, tongue, tires & clearance can determine it.
Altitud of the towing vehicle hitch will change things.
Launching ramp inclination play a big roll too.

The seller told you BS. Your weight will have alot to do with it too, by how much the boat is being pushed down into the water. But I would say 3ft or more sounds right.

You don't need much to launch it in if you don't climb on it to launch it. Just don't start it.
