Anyone know why do Volkswagen named it "Golf" ?!

Well if you look at the names of the VW you'll see something interesting. Most of the cars names are after winds. I know it sounds weird but look it up and you'll see. I use to sell VW's and loved them and did some history behind them. Well most of the cars are named are winds in Europe.

Bora (northeasterly from eastern Europe to northeastern Italy)

It presumably takes its name from Phaëton, the son of Helios in Greek mythology, or harkens back to the early days of automobile production, in which phaetons were a recognized class of vehicles.

Its name is short for passatwind — German for "trade wind".

The name is short for Golf-Strom, German for Gulf Stream; it was named for that oceanic current to reflect its international character

I hope that helped you out. I love my golf and wouldn't get rid of it.

guy above me about the winds is right on.

The sirocco from back in the day is a warm wind that blows north from africa onto southern europe.
