Does Cortisone injections have adverse reactions down the road?

My knee was killing me, so I went to the doctor and he injected it with about 4cc of cortisone after he examined it.
My knee feels so much better. Do you know anything about cortisone injections and how long the pain free result will last and what should be the outcome?

Long term use of Cortisone not only damages your liver and kidney's, it always leads to massive weight gain, there by putting more strain on your already fragile knee.

It can cause liver damage. That's all I know.
