For newer HP PC if you need to do system Recover, just press F10 during the boot up (HP/Compaq logo on the screen). The restore process should start.

You used to get physical CDs which would let you restore your computer to its original state. In order to save money, now you just get an image file which you use to create the recovery CDs. You have to provide the blank CDs yourself.
There should be a program installed which will take you through the process of creating the CDs.

recovery disk image is just that a recovery image of your hard drive , probably a ghost image . you would need to create a ghost boot disk and using the image you can ghost your PC back to normal , a very effective tool , i have my PC ghosted to a external hd , and can bring my whole system back , in about 9 minutes if it would crash
