Can I grow red-skinned potatoes and yams in Northeastern Iowa?

The red skinned potatoes should be fine if you pick the correct month to plant.
The yams may need a higher soil temperature for the best results buy you could probably grow some. I would not expect you should do this on a commercial basis but just in the back yard.

We can grow them in central Illinois, so I would expect that you could.
