So, to answer most of your questions, my rat terrier is 1 year old and 2 months. Still small. If he is teething, why doesn't he chew my husband's shoes. My husband has 15 pairs of shoes by the front door, and I only have my one sandal. Why my sandals? What do you guys think of dogs that sleep in their owner beds or eat from my fork at dinnertime? Maybe I am not training my dog at all and encouraging his bad behavior. Help?

By the way you need to learn how to talk to your dog almost all the time to get tghe behavior you want

Because it will be sharp to distinguish the differrence between wht you like and what you dont like

Otherwise how will they know ?/]

Your complaining to yahoo community is not going to fix your dog obedience problem
Rat terriers thinkn of themselves as little persons so you get with the program and start talking to her/ him
Are your sandals leather, you didnt say whether you have given him chew toys or not maybe he knows your smell and like yours betterthan your husband
But a praise with thte toys goes hand in had and a NO! with the shoes does too talk talk talk talk to your pet for a happier pet owner combo Oh and if the dogs clean of course he can be on the bed
And the fork thing thats questionable as the lick their not so privates but whatever floats your boats U know they use their mouths for toilet tissue Oh ! And go see my answer for your first question

Your dog may like your scent, therefor going after your shoes. Sleeping in an owners bed is fine, as long as the dog is at the foot of the bed. I would not suggest letting your dog eat from your fork or the table. This promotes begging, which is a bad habit, and will reflect poorly on you when there are guests.

Sleeping on the bed is fine, but I would STOP feeding your dog table scraps during dinnertime, especially from your fork.

As for the chewing, best way to prevent it, is to put your sandals in a closet.

A Siberian husky will kill the rats. Do your analyze and you will understand. do not purely get a Husky for the reason which you want to "avert rats" they are allot of artwork and that i could particularly not see the undesirable canines finally end up ina look after for the reason which you probably did not analyze the breed. All canines will kill rats. this is inevitable. i think of your terrific guess could be to get a cat. that's what their for. I even have 3 cats for killing mice and rats on the valuables and are my young ones and my pets. We even have 9 Siberian huskies too. And in case you purely assist you Husky run around your backyard with out a 6ft tall fence the canines would be long previous in much less that an hour through her or him leaping you wall.
