Does anyone else laugh when a girl is like "oh i'm pregnant because the condom broke"? Not because they are pregnant, but because you know they are lying. Most likely the truth is that they didn't have the man wear one because they didn't have one, "it was love", or they got too wasted to even care. Then 9 months later they are too ashamed of their girls night out to tell the truth. I've "tested" condoms from various brands, even one thats now out of business... and the things just don't break. I'm sure one could fall off if it was no where near the right size, but you never hear the girl say "oh it slipped off his willie and he didnt tell me"...

Note: i'm not saying its all the womans fault, it takes two to tango.

I think your question displays a bit of wisdom. A lot of people just think it's easier to say "the condom broke" but a lot of times it's probably a half-truth. MOST of the times that a condom fails, the reason is because of human error. The condom itself has been proven to be very very effective against pregnancy. But some people just don't take the time to put it on correctly, or take it off halfway through, etc. And I think that's where most of the condom "breakage" happens.

"Depending on what the condom is made of, male condoms are 97% effective for preventing pregnancy—when used consistently and correctly. That means using condoms every time you have intercourse. However, the success rate with typical use is 86%."

The quote is from a website but the information is general knowledge.

If condoms just don't break, as you say, shouldn't the success rate be 100%? Because it isn't, it is actually only up to 97%, this means that something happens for condoms to let sperm through. Yes, they can fall off but it is also true that they do indeed break. They're just latex - just like anything, latex can break.

You may not believe why a girl would say "the condom broke" but I can't believe you actually think condoms don't break.

There are condoms that have broken, leaked, and come off, but not because they were poorly made. They were just used improperly.

It is pretty rare for one to break, but condoms aren't completely safe, my friend was wearing one and got hit by a bus.
