This guy has been a friend for 13 years. 5 years ago i decided to leave my home town. When i told him i was moving he told me he was in love with me. I did not feel the same and i did not know what to say to him so i walked away and got in the car and left up till 2 years ago i did not contact him or anybody else from my home town. Now that i'm back in contact with him he has not flat out told me he was in love with me but he has hinted around about it. How do i tell him i don't feel the same way?

Next time he hints around about something Id just say," I love that you and I are friends and I wouldn't want to jeopardize that, Our friendship means to much to me."

Short and sweet is always best. Tell him that you are flattered by the fact that he loves you, but that you don't think of him in the same way. You will always be his friend and nothing more.

are you sure you don't feel the same way? if he's a great guy, don't let him get away, then regret it later on. if you're sure, then tell him that you love him as a friend, but you don't love him anymore than that.
