i'm thinking of getting extensions...main reason is i'm trying to get my hair back to being healthy. i really want hightlights, but my hair is to thin....so my hairdresser said i should look into getting extensions with highlights....right now my hair is medium lenght, thin, and dark brown. ....i would like to dye my hair brown or a light brown with blonde highlights....do you think this is possible?? also what kind of extensions? they're so much out there.....like glue, sew in, clip on's...i dont know....i want my hair to match, and for it to not be so damaging to my hair.....money is not really and issue...i want it to look good...also how long do they usually last? thanks for any info you provide

FYI your hair dresser will never tell you...
Hair extentions all of them will thin your hair even more and damage it significantly.

If you are willing to go into hair extentions long term and change then every 3-4 months than you might save your hair from too much stress.
Its a huge investment of money and time if you want them done right.

The best extentions are real east indian hair. (Great Lengths), and they are specially glued in.
To be removed the bond are broken down with a solution (extra cost each time). This pulls your hair (I remove myself, to save on cost and pulling of my hair.. though it can take a couple of evenings to get them all out)

Your stylist will color/highlight your hair first, and she will have ordered the right colors to blend in.

Make sure the stylist is very experiences, and knows how to not only put them in well, but she knows how to cut and style properly.
you want someone who knows how to make the extentions not look like extentions.

Alternatively, you can take a product called Hair 37 (look online) they are vitamins that work excellent at growing hair. you will see results in just a few months.

In my picture I have hair extensions in. I use the clip ins and they are great. You dont have to worry about glue, or the sewing to tight, ect... In my opinion, the clip ins are the best way to go. good luck.

if your going to be doing the extensions yourself, make sure you buy HUMAN HAIR. I did my friends extensions and they turned out good. I used glue, but its really messy and she actually still hasn't gotten the glue out of her hair. So if you can find someone to sew them in, that would be the best way to go.
