Isn't it rather senseless? If God can't make us believe, then by definition this is a pointless prayer.

Scotishbob: This could make God...? You've got to be kidding.

emucompboy: So you want God to take away free will? Try Calvinism. But same question then, if God has already determined it, it's a prayer that won't be answered except in our own minds.

jeremy t: you don't want robots, but you'll pray for a switch to be turned on? Leave 'em alone if they have free will.

We pray for the salvation of others because we believe in helping others. Even if this is senseless for some, what harm could a prayer bring upon us?

Yes we should pray for the salvation of others! God is not supposed to "make us believe" , he puts it out there , thru us, and others have the choice to take it or leave it. That's why he gave us free will , we are not just some bunch of machines or else we just live in some paradise like we were robots! We should pray that people will see Gods love and accept it , like we did!

When we pray we are battling spiritual warfare.

The weakest Christian makes satan tremble, because we pray in the Name of Jesus Christ.

unbelievers are blinded from the Truth, they are being deceived by the devil, therefore, have hardened their hearts.

When the Disciples couldn't drive out an evil spirit they asked Jesus why they could'nt do it, He said," because this kind can only come out in prayer." (Mark 9:14-29)

Prayer is powerful.

Prayer can change anything if we have faith.

God is calling everyone, we have to pray that the blindness be lifted, so they can see the Truth.

Prayer gives self strength and self strength to others. Like a spiritual wildcard to those in need. I personally can care less about prayer. But a lot of thing are done that won't make a difference persay, but it doesn't mean ppl don't care.

You shouldn't. Each person has to, individually, pray himself for his own salvation (and forgiveness for sins, mustn't forget that).

You should pray that you present the news of Salvation in such a way that the other person, hearing the news from you, will be inclined to make that prayer himself.

I hear ya ... I finally decided prayer is something to do while God does what He's going to do anyways.

Although conversion is solely the work of the Holy Spirit we are to love one another, as ourselves, and therefore desire that they would come to repentance and share in the inhertance of God.

It doesn't hurt to share our concerns and desires with Him.
It's about the relationship. He like to hear from us.

jesus said that "I am the way, the truth and the light. No one gets to the Father expect through me." we pray for those who don't know God to find Him so that they can have life beyond this one.

God gives us the free choice of deciding to accept him or not but as he did with Moses and Paul and others, he puts pressure on them

The Bible tells us to pray for others for various reasons, one of which is their acceptance of Jesus as their savior. This could make God more inclined to put much pressure on a person

We pray because faith is a gift and we ask God to give the gift of faith to those who do not have it.

Scripture says "the prayers of a righteous man accomplish much."

God bless you.
