If they have the money and want the Bible then there would be nothing wrong with it. There are a lot of cheaper ones...but I could see my parents (they live on a fixed income and are old) buying a Bible for $75 if it were something they wanted badly. Amazon has Bibles of all price ranges available and most churchs, if asked, would give a person one.

Only if they can not squeeze more out of the old misers. Old people don't need money, they are dying soon anyway. The only thing they would do with money is leave it to their kids. Their kids would just spend it on food and such foolish stuff. Better that they should have the words of the Lord to chew on.
ps. If the book is well printed with a good quality binding that is not an extreme price. If it is motel room Gideon then it is a bit high. Most serious paper back books run between $20 and $50. Books can be surprisingly expensive, ask any university student.

Yes if they are forcing them to but them. I have a friend who writes aviation books. You wouldn't want to know what he charges. seems last time I ate out we spent 50 bucks for the meal. And we didn't even have anything to take home. There are cheaper bibles Im sure if you would like to provide for your poor old friends. I just remembered their are some organizations that would gladly provide your friends with free bibles if you like? They may not be hard covered top grain leather covered but the message inside is still the same. Tell them to contact the Gideon society, or ask their local church.

My church and every single church I have gone to, have given Bibles away for free. I myself have held onto old Bibles in order to be able to give any away if there is a need. It's one thing to sell a Bible in a bookstore or other place where books are sold (such as Wal-Mart etc), but it's quite another to be a Christian organization selling Bibles for profit. That's shameful. One expects to have to pay for a Bible or any book for that matter because there are costs involved in the printing, packaging, stocking etc., but ministries who sell Bibles should be thinking twice about selling what is not theirs to sell. The Word of God is free to all and if a ministry can't function without selling the Bibles, then I would question whether or not that ministry is sincerely serving God. I am not aware of Jimmy Swaggart doing this, but then again, I have not kept track of his ministry for years. As I said, if costs are involved in a product, then it is understandable to try to at least recoup the cost outlay of that product, but for a ministry to sell Bibles, is to deny those who can't afford one the ability to read the Word of God for themselves, and that is shameful in my book.

This is a misleading question. There are bibles anywhere from free, to more than $100 depending on the materials used to make the bible. Poor old people who want a bible can get one at any price they want or get one for free if they want to.
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

LOL, and how do we know the buyers are 'poor'? Just an assumption on your part I suspect. In the good old USA, people can buy any legal product they can pay for, and that my friend is none of your concern. :)

Not only is it wrong, it's greedy capitalization on what is in my view a holy scripture that should be available to all for free. This is just my opinion and belief though.

Of course not! They're swindlers! $75 per bible, shipping not included!? You can get them for less in bookstores!
