Do you do this because you think if you don't God will be mad at you? So it is pretty much a chore to you?
OR do you read His word because you long to know Him? And because you want HIM to teach you His truth?
Or do you read it expecting for Him to answer you everytime you open it, which means, you only read it when you want an answer from God?

I read it with hunger, expecting the Holy Spirit to reveal something of correction, discipline, encouragement, revelation, direction etc.
The wonderful Word of God!

I read the Bible for a lot of reasons . First I wanted to know what God really said and not what man had to say because I did not know what was in the bible and I was like most people that every time someone had a new idea it sound good to me so I went that way. I can,t tell you when I got it but one day I was reading it and it was speaking to me it was giving me life and from that day until now I have wanted more I can,t get enough of it . Now I can help others who have questions about life

Reading the Bible is part of communicating with God. When we pray, we speak to him, when we read the Bible, he speaks to us. Unfortunately, most people do not see the need to read the Bible. Consider for a moment, can a person really have a relationship with someone whom they never communicate with, and is it really communication if they are the only ones speaking?

Sorry Ars, you cannot know God without reading the Bible. "Faith commeth by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The Word of God is also the mind of God. We know what the will of God is because we know the Word of God. "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God and the Word was with God". I read the Bible because it is absolutely necessary and because I love it. Praise the Lord and God bless you.

I read His Word because I would like to be closer to Him and know the truth instead of rumors. I read it anytime, anywhere. If I don't have it with me, then I remember a verse. Let's see, today's is Colossians 3: 15-18 (I think)
Bearing one another and forgiving one another, even as the Lord forgave you, so also should you forgive. And over all these things put on love, which is the uniting bond of perfectness...Something like that.

I read the Bible because every time that i open the book i find something that has real application to me on that day. It may sound weird but regardless of my hurts, hangups, troubles or good times, I open the Bible and see a quote that is very relevant to where my head is at that moment.

I just want to know the truth. I like reading just about anything, anyway, and I've found the Bible to be the best book I've ever read. And of course, without saying, out of love for my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Because I enjoy it, I like to learn from the mistakes of others and if I can avoid the same pitfalls that others have follen into...I will be a better person for it..if I can teach my kids how to avoid my own mistakes..they will also grow from my decisions by making the decision I was not able to...or BY NOT doing things that i did..that were dumb..either way..they are avoiding pitfalls as well...

not to mention that reading the scriptures can actually brighten your day...provided you read with faith and NOT in critique..

You can still know God, and never read the bible! A lot of people do though, because they want to know more about him.
